Iran strongly objects to the unfounded allegations made in a recent press statement by the US. Iran rejects that the Revolutionary Guard are a terrorist organisation, and denies involvement in destabilising the South Iraq region. Our only involvement in South Iraq is a peaceful one, rebuilding the damage caused by the Western occupiers. The US has consistently rejected international calls for withdrawal, and whilst the UK has rightfully withdrawn its troops from this illegal invasion, the US has stepped up its troop numbers in a previously safe region! Any instability in the region from now on can only be directly attributed to the American increased presence, and Iran strongly condemns this reckless action.
Any violation of Iranian National Waters in the straights of Hamuz will have appropriate action taken against it. Iran reiterates its desire to coexist peacefully with the international community, and urges the international community to show restraint before sanctions are imposed upon innocent nations. We repeat our revulsion of the recent Zionist invasion, and hope that the Security Council takes strong actions against such an aggressive move.
Iran also condemns the use of biological weapons in the recent attack. Iran has always been opposed to the use of these weapons.
